The daughter of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has accused some individuals of attempting to make money from her father’s ongoing battle with stage-four cancer.
Kira Taiwo made the revelation during an emotional TikTok live session on Saturday as she updated followers on the 66-year-old actor’s deteriorating condition.
“My father is a good father. Some people are even trying to make money with us in this whole situation. Fear God. This one will come and bring solution, N800k, N5m, 11,000 dollars, 18,000 dollars. Do you want to make us broke? We are not billionaires,” she said.
Kira stressed that the family is not financially equipped to meet such demands and that their only focus remains finding proper treatment for the actor. She noted that hospitals have already stopped chemotherapy, leaving them desperately searching for alternatives, whether medical or herbal.
The family has repeatedly clarified that they are not soliciting cash donations. Instead, they are appealing for connections to specialists or facilities willing to take on the case. Kira expressed gratitude to Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, for footing medical bills and providing consistent support.
She also shared how the crisis has taken a toll on the wider family, including her uncle, whom she described as deeply worried after seeing earlier videos.
“That was the video my big daddy saw and on the group chat, where we always have our discussion about daddy’s health, I saw my cousin wrote something like, my big daddy was asking ‘Is Taiye going to die?’”
Kira added that her father has been in severe pain and has expressed fear of dying, something she said she had never witnessed before.
“He’s saying that he doesn’t want to die. Please, I’ve never seen my daddy in that kind of pain before.”
The latest outburst comes days after Kira and her sister Lima Taiwo first went public with appeals for medical assistance, revealing that the severity of Ogogo’s illness only became clear about three weeks earlier.
