The daughter of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has strongly debunked viral claims that the 66-year-old Nollywood star has died.
The false report spread rapidly on social media on Tuesday after a Facebook user alleged that one of the actor’s daughters, Haleemah Taiwo, had announced her father’s passing. The post claimed Ogogo “has passed away after being rejected by different hospitals” and that he was survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.
Lima Taiwo quickly dismissed the claim on Instagram with a firm message:
“This is false!!!!!!! This is false!!!!! This is false!!!!! This is false!!! THIS IS FAKE… PLEASE STOP SPREADING FAKE NEWS.”
The clarification came less than 24 hours after Lima and her sister Kira Taiwo made emotional public appeals for medical help for their father, who is battling stage-four cancer. In separate Instagram videos posted on Monday, the sisters revealed that the actor’s condition had deteriorated and that the hospital treating him could no longer administer chemotherapy.
They stressed that the family is not seeking financial donations but medical assistance, including recommendations for specialists, hospitals or alternative treatment options that could give Ogogo another chance. The sisters noted that the full severity of the illness only became clear about three weeks earlier.

Ogogo has been a prominent figure in Yoruba cinema for over three decades, featuring in numerous films and remaining one of the industry’s most recognisable faces.
The rapid spread of the death rumour highlights the sensitivity surrounding the actor’s health crisis and the public’s intense interest in his battle. Fans and industry colleagues had already begun rallying support following the daughters’ earlier appeals.
