Nollywood actress Judy Austin’s former husband, Emmanuel Obasi, has hit back hard at her alleged N1 billion defamation lawsuit, declaring that no court action will stop him from fighting for access to their children.

In a strongly worded video response shared widely on social media, Obasi mocked the size of the claim and insisted the legal move only strengthens his resolve.

“You sued me for 1 billion. Can you count it? I laugh. I’ve been laughing since yesterday. Some people don’t know the reason why I’m laughing,” he said.

The long-running public feud between the pair intensified after Judy Austin filed the high-profile suit against Obasi over statements he made about their past marriage and her relationship with actor Yul Edochie. She has denied his claims that any romantic involvement with Yul began while she was still married to Obasi, stating their marriage ended years earlier.

Obasi focused heavily on their children in his reply. He noted that the lawsuit itself allegedly recorded that he last contacted Judy in 2018 and used that detail to demand answers.

“Thank God that in that your lawsuit, you said that the last time I called is 2018. So you accepted… What happened since 2018? Did you block me or you did not block me? Why are you hiding my children from me? Why are you manipulating those children?” he asked.

He made it clear the court papers would not silence him.

“Do you think that the lawsuit can scare me away from asking for my children? The answer is no. You don’t know me very well,” Obasi stated.

He went further, saying he was ready for the ultimate consequence:

“Either I have my children or I go to jail.”

Obasi also questioned the basis of the defamation claim, arguing that sharing his personal experiences does not amount to lying about someone. He recalled an alleged past meeting between them in Nnewi where, according to him, they stayed at a hotel while attempting to resolve issues.

“It’s not this time o. I will be speaking till I put on that cloth and go to jail. I will be speaking,” he concluded.

The bitter dispute has played out publicly for years, with Obasi repeatedly accusing Judy of denying him access to their children and Judy maintaining that she never blocked contact and that the matter belongs in court rather than on social media. Judy Austin has also filed a separate defamation suit against veteran actress Rita Edochie.
