The family of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has officially postponed her burial ceremony until further notice, citing the need for additional arrangements and necessary conclusions.
The announcement came shortly after the candlelight and artists’ night held in her honour on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at LTV 8 in Ikeja, Lagos. In an official statement, the family expressed deep sadness while requesting understanding from the public.
“With deep sadness, the family of Tope Osoba wishes to inform friends, colleagues, fans, and well-wishers that the burial ceremony has been POSTPONED until further notice. Following the Candlelight / Artist’s Night held in honour of Tope, the family has decided to postpone the burial to allow for further arrangements and necessary conclusions.”
They added:
“The family respectfully asks everyone for their understanding, patience, prayers, and continued support during this difficult and sensitive period. The new burial date and venue will be communicated officially by the family once the necessary matters have been resolved.”
Temitope Kofoworola Osoba, popularly known as Tope Osoba, died on or around August 4/5, 2026, at the age of 40. The Yoruba actress had previously battled breast cancer but her family and close colleagues, including Foluke Daramola, have stated that cancer was not the cause of her death. Investigations into the exact circumstances remain ongoing amid conflicting accounts.
Her burial had earlier been scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Saint James Anglican Church in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, with a white dress code. The sudden postponement has fuelled further speculation within Nollywood circles, especially after the sparsely attended candlelight tribute where actress Toyosi Adesanya publicly accused some colleagues of “beefing” the late star and attempting to sabotage contributions meant for her.

The family expressed gratitude to those who attended the tribute and have continued to support them.
“We sincerely appreciate everyone who came out to honour Tope, as well as all those who have continued to stand by the family with their prayers, love, and support. Further updates will be communicated through the family’s official channels. Rest peacefully, Tope.”
As of now, no new date has been announced.
