Popular Nigerian content creator and financial commentator Emmanuel Obruste, better known as Geh Geh, has finally cleared the air on the wedding videos that flooded social media last weekend. He confirmed the entire event was staged as a promotional stunt and social experiment rather than a real marriage ceremony.
The clips showed Geh Geh and a woman dressed in matching burgundy traditional attire at what looked like a full wedding celebration. The videos spread quickly and triggered intense backlash. Many fans and fellow influencers accused him of hypocrisy because of his well-known public comments on dating and marriage.

Members of his own family also spoke out, saying they were not invited to the supposed ceremony over aesthetic reasons.

Geh Geh first pushed back against critics by insisting he had never directly told people to avoid marriage. He waited until a recent appearance on the BTC Podcast to fully explain what happened.
“We organised everything as a normal promo. And so far, apart from the fact that we purposely did it, I still wanted to get the public’s reactions,” he said.
He went further, expressing satisfaction with how women in particular responded online.
“I really enjoyed the outcome because women really proved my teachings right. According to them, no woman would agree to marry a person like me that preaches against marriage and because I have four baby mamas and two women that are pregnant for me. To them, no woman in her right sense would settle down with a man like me. But how come when news came online saying I’m married, they still believed?”
He used the moment to address what he sees as widespread misunderstanding of the teachings he shares through his “Geh Geh University of Wisdom and Knowledge.”
“Some people have a misunderstanding about my Geh Geh Wisdom and Knowledge University. When you see some people, the major thing they have been saying is that GehGeh told them not to get married, but I got married,” he explained.
Far from rejecting marriage completely, Geh Geh clarified that his core message is a preference for polygamy over monogamy. He believes it better protects men from emotional pain.
“I did not kick against marriage. I said do not marry, and even if you must marry, go for polygamy. This is because polygamy is the path that guides a man’s heart from heartbreak,” he stated.
He added:
“When you are with different women, it will be hard for one woman to manipulate you. And this was what our forefathers practiced. That is the core principle of my university.”
The clarification comes shortly after Geh Geh publicly discussed his personal life, revealing that he currently has four baby mamas and that two other women are pregnant for him. Those earlier comments had already drawn heavy online attention and added fuel to the wedding video controversy.
