Abia State Governor Alex Otti has approved the payment of N25 million to support the medical treatment of veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu, who recently made a heartfelt public appeal for help.
The funds were directed to the hospital account where the 62-year-old actress is receiving care. The Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Dr Justice Okey Martins, popularly known as JMartins, announced the development.
“Yesterday before the close of work, His Excellency @alexottiofr our pragmatic leader made good his promise, directing a 25M payment to the hospital’s account where our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs Ngozi Nwosu is receiving treatment,” JMartins stated.
He added,
“We thank you immensely for your support and kindness of heart sir. History will be kind to you.”
The payment represents the first phase of medical support approved by the governor after Nwosu, an indigene of Abia State, cried out for assistance.
In a deeply emotional Instagram video shared days earlier, the screen veteran revealed she had spent three weeks in hospital and urgently needed three life-saving surgeries estimated to cost about N30 million.
“My fans, friends, family and colleagues, this was really hard for me to do, but I can’t keep quiet any more. I need urgent life-saving surgeries,” she said.

The actress, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of Nollywood, has featured in several classic films and television productions, including the groundbreaking movie Domitila and the popular sitcom Fuji House of Commotion. Her decades-long career has made her a beloved figure across generations of Nigerian audiences.
Governor Otti’s swift intervention has been welcomed as a significant boost toward covering a substantial portion of her medical bills. While the N25 million covers the first phase, additional support from well-meaning Nigerians is still being encouraged to complete the full treatment.
