Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has shared an emotional update with her fans after undergoing major surgery that turned out more complicated than expected.
In an Instagram story addressed to her loyal Mobstarrs on July 30, 2026, the Mavin Records singer apologized for her reduced visibility and revealed the unexpected turn her procedure took.
“Hey Mobstarrs, I’m sorry you’re not seeing as much of me as I would like. I had major surgery a few days ago. I was hoping it would be a quick procedure, but it was more complicated than they expected,” she wrote.
Despite the setback, Ayra Starr sounded optimistic and determined.
“I just need a bit of rest and I’ll be back,” she assured fans.
She also used the moment to rally support for her highly anticipated third studio album, Starrgirl, scheduled for release on August 14, 2026.
“Starr girl is coming so soon. I need everyone out there spreading the word. Tell your friends, family, neighbours. Order Starrgirl asap. Love you guys,” she added.
The news comes as the singer continues to build global momentum following the success of previous hits and her sophomore project. Fans have flooded social media with prayers and well wishes, celebrating her transparency while looking forward to her full return.
