MC Fish’s new girlfriend, Gbemso, has fiercely defended their whirlwind romance, insisting she only entered the relationship after confirming he was fully separated from his ex-wife, Nollywood actress Anita Joseph.
In a bold response to critics accusing her of wrecking the marriage, Gbemso set the record straight and revealed the emotional toll of the public hate campaign targeting their union.
“I met a separated man; he proved he was separated, then I dated him. A hate campaign started to tarnish his image and frustrate me to the point of leaving him. I answered cause it was addressed to me. Told my truth and have been saying my truth since.”
Gbemso compared the intense backlash to past high-profile scandals, referencing how Davido’s father once held a conference to defend his son against false accusations.
“Lies are out there… Please, if someone as important as Davido’s dad could set a conference. As I do not have money to do a conference, I would use my phone,” she explained.
She lamented the pressure of millions turning against her simply for finding love.
“Do you know what it means for millions of people to grow hate for you because another person is riding on a promise to silence out of respect for the people he respects.”
The controversy erupted earlier this year when photos and videos of MC Fish and Gbemso surfaced online shortly after Anita Joseph publicly confirmed the end of her marriage in December 2025, citing a season of pain, reflection, and healing.
MC Fish himself had previously lamented how society treats men differently in breakups. He noted that when women move on, they are celebrated for finding happiness, but men face accusations of cheating. In a cheeky shade, he even joked that at least no one accused him of being bad in bed.
Despite the storm, Gbemso remains defiant and joyful. While sharing loved-up photos, she celebrated their connection: the make-up moments proved to her that “God really meant it when he said it was her time to smile.”
