Hypeman and former husband of actress Anita Joseph, MC Fish, has stirred emotions online after declaring he would continue raising a child even if a DNA test proved it wasn’t biologically his, while opening up about trust and forgiveness in marriage.

In a recent interview on the LinkUp Podcast, the popular entertainer was asked how he would react if he discovered after years of marriage that the children he had been raising were not his. MC Fish responded with a firm and compassionate stance.

“If it happens, I will train that child because it is an innocent child. Let the child grow up and even say I’m not his father. My reward is with my Creator, it is with God.”

When the interviewer noted that many men would likely disagree with his position, MC Fish defended his view, asking, “It’s the fact. Do you want to throw a five or six-year-old away?”

On whether he would remain married to the woman in such a scenario, he said his decision would depend on the overall quality of the marriage and the level of trust.

“Well, I will. I will add factors like, how does this person make me feel? How well do we co-exist because it’s a marriage. Can I trust her? Can she help me when I am on my sick bed? If all these boxes tick and the only thing she did was have a child outside wedlock, then I will forgive her.”

The candid revelation has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising his maturity and willingness to prioritise the child’s well-being, while others questioned the practicality of such forgiveness in real-life situations involving betrayal.

His stance has reignited broader conversations about paternity, forgiveness, and the responsibilities of men in complex family situations within the Nigerian entertainment space.
