Some alleged members of the family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo have raised serious concerns over the circumstances surrounding his death and burial, publicly demanding transparency and answers from those who handled his final moments.
Alexx Ekubo, who passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40 after battling advanced metastatic kidney cancer, was laid to rest on June 18 in Arochukwu, Abia State. While the funeral drew several Nollywood stars, alleged members of his biological family claim they were largely sidelined and left in the dark.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, David Ekubo, identified as a cousin, expressed the family’s pain and confusion.
“With grave pain, heaviness and sorrow; the family of Ikenna Alex Ekubo advises the public that the events leading up to his passing have been unclear.”
The family alleged they were not informed of his passing when it occurred and that a family representative who received his body from the mortuary was denied the chance to view it. They also questioned decisions such as wearing white at the funeral of a 40-year-old man.
Clinton Ekubo, another relative, took to social media to voice stronger allegations. He claimed Alexx’s stepmother arranged a wife for him without the knowledge of his biological family and that Alexx had grown distant from his biological relatives.
Clinton further demanded clarity on the actor’s reported illness and physical observations on his corpse.
“How come the blood clot on his left eyes? What happened that he was brought to the hospital dead at arrival?”
Alexx’s elder sister Chioma also broke her silence in an emotional post, sharing a throwback video of them dancing together.
“My brother, this wasn’t the plan. How did you do this to me. Please come back to me.”
The family insists their quest for answers is not about properties but about closure and accountability. No official response has been issued by the late actor’s management or other parties named in the statements as of now.
