Afrobeats superstar Davido and popular Hausa singer Dauda Rarara (a known supporter of President Bola Tinubu) have engaged in a heated public clash over the worsening insecurity crisis in Nigeria, with Davido fiercely defending his decision to highlight the abduction of Oyo schoolchildren on the global stage.
The drama erupted after Davido performed at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert in Los Angeles on June 10, 2026, wearing a customised jacket inscribed with “Bring Them Home” and the names of over 40 abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area in Oyo State.

Rarara condemned the move in a strongly worded video, describing it as “barbaric” and accusing Davido of embarrassing Nigeria internationally and politicising the issue. He said:
“I do not usually reply or react to issues like this, but what Davido did was barbaric… How can you promote Ansaru terrorists or insecurity-related issues to the whole world?”
He further claimed Davido’s action was motivated by political interests linked to his uncle’s election bid on the Accord Party platform, adding:
“Is it because his uncle is contesting an election on Accord Party and Tinubu is in APC? Is that why insecurity must become a campaign tool?”
Davido hit back sharply on X, first replying with “Debidooo” in apparent mockery, then escalating with a stronger Hausa response which translates to:
“If only you had knowledge, I would have stopped to speak with you. But you know nothing, just a fool.”
In a more detailed follow-up statement, Davido insisted that true patriotism demands speaking out against insecurity regardless of political affiliation.
“Every Nigerian should not stay silent about the insecurity plaguing the nation, nor should they prevent others from voicing their concerns openly. Showing bias and prioritizing personal or political interests… is nothing to be proud of. Be a patriot for your country, stop prioritizing politics over the truth, and fear God in everything you do.”
