Nigerian music legend Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has sparked fresh conversations after revealing how his explosive social media growth suddenly froze following the much-celebrated reunion with his twin brother Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) as PSquare.
In a recent interview, the “I Can’t Look Away” crooner opened up about the surprising shift in his online popularity, admitting he once enjoyed massive daily follower gains that placed him among the top Nigerian entertainers in terms of digital influence. Peter Okoye said:
“I used to have 100,000 followers daily, but my growth got frozen after the reunion with PSquare.”
He explained that during the peak of his solo career, his account recorded consistent and rapid growth, with new followers pouring in at an impressive rate. However, that momentum reportedly slowed down significantly after the twins reconciled and resumed activities as PSquare.
Peter noted that he was actively monitoring and competing with heavyweights like Davido and Don Jazzy in the social media space at the time. While he stopped short of directly blaming the reunion, he clearly linked the timing of the slowdown to that period.
Some fans responded, suggesting that public interest spiked during the brothers’ separation and drama, pointing out that social media algorithms and public appetite for conflict-driven narratives often influence celebrity growth patterns.
