BBNaija All Stars winner Phyna has stirred fresh debate after boldly claiming that criticism of Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) and other body enhancements often comes down to one thing: lack of money. The reality star made the controversial remarks during a recent livestream, directly addressing fans and trolls who accuse Big Brother Naija participants of rushing to alter their bodies once they gain fame and cash.
Phyna did not hold back as she challenged the moral high ground many critics claim.
“You always say once someone wins Big Brother or goes on the show, they start doing things to their body. My dear, if you had money, do you know what you would do? Imagine you had ₦20 million you’re not even using as a woman, you would go and have surgery. Don’t let anybody deceive you.”
She went further, admitting her own decision was driven by financial freedom rather than any deeper principle.
“It’s because you are broke. Even me, I admit it’s because of money. It’s nothing else, I swear to God, I won’t lie to you.”
The outspoken star argued that people’s thinking becomes clouded when they lack resources, making it easy to judge others.
“Right now, your thinking is clouded. You’re wondering, ‘Why are they doing this?’ My sister, it’s the money you don’t have that’s why you’re criticizing it. Don’t worry, if money comes your way, you will do it too.”
Her comments have triggered strong reactions. While some viewers agreed that financial capability heavily influences lifestyle and beauty choices, others slammed Phyna for what they see as promoting insecurity and unhealthy standards. Several fans pointed out that true self-confidence should not depend on surgery, regardless of one’s bank account.
Phyna, who won the BBNaija All Stars edition in 2022, has been open about her own BBL journey in recent months. She previously addressed critics after sharing post-surgery videos, insisting she has no regrets.

Many online users have used the clip to spark broader discussions about class, desire, and the pressure to maintain a certain image after fame. Supporters defended Phyna’s honesty, while critics accused her of encouraging young girls to chase quick fixes instead of self-acceptance. Her words have once again placed her at the centre of a national conversation about beauty standards and personal choices.
