How Olamide inspired me – Singer, Mayorkun

Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, better known as Mayorkun, a Nigerian singer, has revealed that iconic singer and rapper Olamide inspired him.

In a recent Snapchat video of himself freestyling, the ‘Cheche’ crooner said Olamide inspired how he writes his music.

While acknowledging the YBNL boss’ influence on his penmanship, the former DMW signee stated that Baddo taught him that good songwriting does not have to be in English.

He captioned the video, “Na Baddo [Olamide] make me know say pen game no be by English o! IYKVK.”

Recall that Mayorkun came into the spotlight in 2016 after he released a cover of Davido’s ‘The Money’ single which featured Olamide and was discovered by the singer on X (formerly Twitter).

Davido signed him to his record label, DMW where he released his debut single, ‘Eleko’ and became an instant star.

Two years later, he won the highly coveted Next Rated category at The Headies which solidified his stardom.

In 2021, Mayorkun parted ways with Davido Music Worldwide, DMW.
