Ahmed Ololade, best known by his stage name Asake, is a popular singer who recently broke a record by receiving the most Headies nominations for a debut artist.

Recall that on Wednesday, the 16th Headies Award candidates were announced by the event’s organisers.

Asake received a total of eight nominations, making history as the first artist to win so many Headies in their first year of competition.

The YBNL signee also created history by becoming the first musician to receive nominations for both “Best Male Artiste of The Year” and “Next Rated” at the same time.

His other nominations include: Song of The Year (“Sungba” Remix ft. Burna Boy), Digital Artiste of The Year, Best Collaboration (“Bandana” with Fireboy DML), Album of The Year (“Mr Money With The Vibe”), Best Street-Hop Artiste (“Joha”), and Headies Viewer’s Choice (“Sungba” Remix ft. Burna Boy).

Asake (8) is also the artist with the most nominations at the 16th Headies behind Burna Boy (11).

Reacting to the feat via his Twitter handle, Asake wrote, “Thank you @The_Headies for the nominations. This means a lot to me.”
