Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has candidly spoken about the distance that developed between her and screen icon Genevieve Nnaji, admitting their once-close friendship gradually faded over time.
The actress made the revelation during a recent episode of the Tea With Tay podcast. She recalled how they used to be very close, especially during the early days of Netflix’s entry into Nigeria, attending events together before an unexplained gap emerged.
“We grew apart. I think she had some kind of mistrust about me but I don’t know. Years ago, when Netflix first came to Nigeria, we were close, used to go to events together and the gap just suddenly appeared and I don’t know what happened or came over her, but I moved on.”
She noted that Genevieve remained pleasant during a Netflix commercial shoot in South Africa, where they both participated alongside director Akin Omotosho. Despite the cooled relationship, Kate expressed a mature perspective on friendships.
“To me friends are in a person’s life for different seasons and reasons. Some are roots, some are branches, and some are leaves.”
The revelation has sparked conversations online about celebrity friendships in Nollywood, with many fans expressing surprise at the news since the two actresses were often seen as close colleagues.
