E Go Better for You — Seun Kuti Reacts to Korra Obidi’s Twerking Tribute to Fela

Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has responded to a viral video showing Nigerian-American dancer and singer Korra Obidi twerking on the grave of his late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, during her recent visit to Nigeria.

Over the weekend, Korra paid a visit to Fela’s final resting place and decided to honour the Afrobeat legend in her own unconventional way. In a video she posted on Instagram, the US-based entertainer was seen dancing and twerking in front of the grave, describing it as an “offering” to the music icon.

Captioning the clip, Korra wrote:

“I gave baba an offering. We visited the grave site of Anikulapo Kuti today, and we all know that one thing Fela loved was a woman with gyrating hips. So I decided to twerk for baba.”

Her tribute immediately sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians criticizing the act as inappropriate, while others argued it was harmless and in tune with Fela’s well-known love for expressive, free-spirited women.

Reacting to the viral moment, Seun Kuti offered a surprisingly warm response, seemingly endorsing Korra’s gesture. Sharing his thoughts, he wrote:

“You guys know what baba likes but you will never give him what he wants. E go better for you my sister.”

While some fans applauded Seun’s open-minded reaction, others maintained that twerking on a grave, no matter the intention crossed cultural and moral boundaries.
