Tobi Amusan gets rousing welcome at alma mater in Ijebu-Ode
World record holder in 100m hurdles Tobi Amusan visited her alma mater, Our Lady Of Apostles Secondary School in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State on Friday.
A guard of honor began at the school’s entrance to welcome her. They chanted, “Stand up for the champion.”
Amusan waved excitedly at them while wearing white.
After Amusan broke the world record and took home the gold at the World Athletics Championship in Oregon, USA, in July, some students from the school were captured on camera singing the national anthem while holding a picture of her.
After seeing a world record holder who was once like them on Friday, the students were unable to contain their excitement.
