BBNaija Season 7 winner Phyna has stirred fresh controversy after using a recent livestream to call out Nigerian hookup girls for what she described as a shocking lack of effort, and she was very specific about it.
The 29-year-old reality star and entertainer, born Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, turned her attention to sex workers operating around Lagos’ Orchid Road, delivering an unsolicited critique after drawing comparisons from a recent trip to Kenya.
“I want to kneel down and beg our hookup girls. You girls are not taking your jobs seriously,” she said. “When I went to Kenya, I saw girls standing on the road wearing heels and rocking nice hair, looking ready for business. The hookup girls in Nigeria are not serious; they’re not putting effort into getting ready at all.”
She went further, detailing exactly what she found lacking.
“You go out wearing slippers, anyhow gowns, and without any makeup—It’s so tacky. That’s the oldest profession in the world. It’s a job, you need to come prepared. At least, wear heels even if it is two inches. Try to do lip combo.”
Phyna also connected appearance to earning power, noting that the lack of presentation was directly responsible for why some of these women got lowballed by clients.
“When a man prices you anyhow, you get angry,” she said, essentially arguing that presentation commands pricing.
Social media reactions have been predictably split. Some found the commentary oddly practical, others questioned the basis on which Phyna felt qualified to advise.
This is not the first time Phyna has made headlines for blunt, unfiltered takes. Earlier this year, her Twitch account was temporarily suspended following a livestream flagged for sexual content. She has also previously spoken about being offered N5 million by a male fan for sex, which she declined.
