Nollywood actress and evangelist Tonto Dikeh has firmly addressed widespread misconceptions about the start of her Christian journey, insisting that her relationship with Christ began long before her public ministry.
Speaking on the Real Talk With Kike show hosted by Kikelomo Atanda-Owo, she clarified that many people wrongly assume her faith only started when she became openly visible as a minister.
Dikeh, who shared clips of the conversation on her Instagram page on October 22, 2026, stressed that her walk with God goes back to her teenage years.
“There’s a very big misconception about when I came out to when I gave my life to Christ. Let’s not mistake the fact that I’ve always been in Christ, to the point where I was going to be ordained a pastor. So I knew God at 17,” she said.
She explained that the period when she stepped into public view was not the moment of rededication. Instead, it followed what she described as a private “pruning stage” in which God shaped her away from the public eye.
“When I came out was not the time that I rededicated my life to God. That was the time when God had to take me through, so all the things I say God told me, it has to be private. It was a private praise that bettered the public announcement,” Dikeh stated.
The actress-turned-evangelist also recounted a visit by a Reverend to her fellowship. According to her, the visitor witnessed healings, miracles, prophecies and instances of God calling people out by name, leaving him deeply moved by the experiences.
Dikeh closed with a strong message aimed at sceptics and a broader audience.
“The worst thing anybody can do to this generation is make them feel they are far from God,” she said.
Her comments come as she continues to expand her ministry work. She launched New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle, an interdenominational fellowship focused on prayer, revival and consecration in Abuja in August 2026, and oversaw the foundation laying for a related project in early October. These steps build on her more public spiritual activities that gained attention from late 2025 onward, when she began sharing personal testimonies of transformation.
