Desola Afod, wife of Nollywood actor Femi Adebayo, has issued a public apology to the entire movie industry following a heated online clash with several actresses.

The drama began after Desola shared a video calling out actors and actresses for allegedly disrespecting her, noting that she was older than most of them and should not be addressed by her first name. The video triggered swift and sharp responses from industry names like Bimbo Success, Wumi Toriola, Nkechi Blessing, amongst others.

Bowing to the pressure, Desola retracted her statement and issued a formal apology on her social media page, accepting full responsibility for her choice of words.

“To every practitioner in the movie industry, I sincerely and deeply apologise for my choice of words, particularly the statement ‘Gbogbo ẹyin Oni tiatia.’ Looking back, I acknowledge that this generalisation was wrong, and I take full responsibility,” she wrote.

She added:

“I spoke in anger, but I understand that anger is never an excuse for disrespect.”

Despite the apology, she held her ground on one point.

“Taking responsibility for my mistake does not mean abandoning my identity, my values, or my right to express myself. I accept my fault, I apologise sincerely, and I am committed to becoming a better version of myself,” she said.

Signing off, she wrote “Desola Afod, Celeb Wife,” seemingly to dispel rumours of a split.
