Nollywood actor Itele D’Icon has publicly begged his wife, Aminat Omowunmi Yekini, known online as Beauty by Icon, to delete every post tied to the Irewole Olaniyan side-chick storm and stay out of a fight he says is not hers.
The plea landed on his Instagram story on Monday, October 5, 2026, a day after Aminat had already shaded the actress and then taken the post down. Itele said he had spoken to her in private first and got nowhere.
“Dear wife, please stop all this. I’m not in support of it at all. Delete anything that has to do with this drama. I’ve spoken to you privately about it, but since nothing has changed, let me come out publicly so everyone can help me beg you. Please stop. This is not your fight, and I don’t want you involved in it. Dear fans, please let peace reign. I believe she will listen now that I have come out publicly to plead with her. Peace over drama. Always,” he wrote.
Aminat had already explained the deletion in her own post. She said the takedown was not a surrender to critics.
“I didn’t delete my previous post because of anybody. Una no even reach. I deleted it because my husband called and urged me to do so. I said what I said, and that’s on period.”
The post she pulled down, shared on Sunday, October 4, accused fans of changing the rules once a favourite was involved.
“Before, we all agreed that side chicks were a big deal, but now some of you are out here defending and encouraging them simply because it’s your fave this time. The hypocrisy is actually screaming. Ori gbogbo yin ti daru. Same situation, different person, and suddenly the rules have changed.”
That fight started days earlier, when a woman identified as Mary Edris accused Irewole Olaniyan of an affair with her husband lasting about three years, and of taking support for movies, trips, bags and lifestyle. Irewole has denied knowing the man was married. She said they had a few dates, that a restaurant posted a video of one outing, and that she walked away once she learnt the truth. She added that she told Mary the man was not her type, apologised, and that Mary accepted the apology even while disputing the timeline.
