Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has pulled the planned release of her movie Egusi Ogbono after actor Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, popularly known as CJay, died on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The film had been billed to drop at 5 p.m. the same day.
She made the announcement in a tearful Instagram video from a hospital in Badore, Lagos.
“It took me a lot to make this video because I won’t be dropping the movie anymore by 5pm. I’m currently at the hospital at Badore. I just lost CJay. CJay is dead. I don’t even know how to start.”
The caption that followed was just as raw.
“Cjay, this was never the plan.”
She told followers she would no longer drop the movie and added, “This one pains me.”
CJay, also credited as Cjay Nwoks, was from Awka, Anambra State, and lived in Lagos. He began acting professionally in 2021 and appeared in titles including Larry Cold, Mum Overnight, A Day To My Wedding, The Lies She Tell and What Time Left. Some reports listed him as the lead in Nkechi’s new film. Neither the actress nor his family has publicly stated what led to his death. Funeral plans had not been released at the time of filing.
