Nigerian celebrity friendships rarely last. The same stars who pose as brothers, bankroll birthday stages, and publicly call each other family later release the invoices. They dig up old videos. They leak private DMs. They turn a quiet disagreement into a full-blown national conversation. This is not just one rivalry. It is a recurring pattern. Today’s besties become tomorrow’s content.
Below are some of the most talked-about Nigerian celebrity friendships that started strong and later exploded into public drama.
Tonto Dikeh and Bobrisky
For about five years they looked glued together. Then, in June 2021, Tonto posted a warning about jealous friends who dress up as supportive angels. Bobrisky took it personally. “How can you owe me N5m and be shading me?” he asked, telling her to pay her debt and accusing her of living a fake life. He later said no friend had paid the bills he paid for her, and that she was still using a phone she borrowed from him. Tonto answered with her own allegations and they blocked each other. In 2023, on Toke Makinwa’s show, Bobrisky named that breakup as the one that still hurt. “I think Tonto.” Asked if he missed her, he said, “I miss her so much. Tonto Dikeh is like my sister. Three months after we fell out, I started missing her because she was always there for me.” He blamed two hot tempers. The public never got a clean ending, only later birthday niceties that could not erase the N5 million argument.
Bobrisky and Papaya Ex
They were never as close as Tonto and Bobrisky. They were close enough for envy to look like theft. When Papaya rolled out housewarming invites with champagne and a box that Bobrisky said copied his own party pack, he promised war. “Now listen, 18 of December, I won’t let you shine too mad person, watch out. I want to let you know that I’m the boss of this game.” At a Lagos event she danced near him. He threw a bottle of water. Guests held him back. He later claimed he would have beaten her if 15 people had not pinned him down. Papaya still threw the housewarming. Bobrisky still called the chairs empty.
Burna Boy and Cubana Chief Priest
They used to share club air and birthday stages. In January 2025 Burna Boy posted, “Don’t forget that you’re an Azaman And they’ve taken your plug whose name is ‘Omo Igbo’ in ATL and you’re next #OwerriRickyrozay.” Cubana answered like a man opening an old file. “2018, 1m naira was what I paid you to perform as back up artist on my birthday. I have pictures and videos where you were performing for me. I won’t lie for you. My crew has been in money before you met us in the queue. Be humble small boy.” He asked, “what’s hurting you? I know you are African princess. Only you bent down to collect Grammy, only you is still crying.” He teased jewellery debt and Ferraris. Burna Boy denied owing a jeweller. “All my shit paid for, sometimes in cash. If not, I would be in all the blogs by now for owing debts like your boss. Go to Cooscharis and service any of your stolen cars please… Let me relax actually, I don’t want you to go to jail.”
Wizkid and Davido

They used to be friends who spoke highly of each other till they became the country’s longest running music rivals. In July 2017, after Davido leaned into the “local” tag on Summer Body with “With our Yankee passport, dem say we local,” Wizkid posted: “My people, remember that Yankee passport isn’t baba blue, it doesn’t cure frog voice.”
In April 2024 Wizkid posted a video of Davido crying on his knees and wrote, “You and all ur crew plus your pant washer song writer go to sleep at night thinking you actually got anything on me in music.” Then: “delusional.” Davido quoted him: “WE NOT DELUSIONAL YOU’RE A SICK MAN.” He added that he had stopped “jeopardizing millions of my USD on someone whose career was resurrected a few years ago just to die again,” called him a size 7 who shops at “Footlocker kids,” and later wrote, “AINT SH*T DROPPING I HAVE HITS!! HE DONT !!”
Davido and Burna Boy
A 2020 “two greatest” photo of Davido and Wizkid helped light this one. Davido then dropped FEM. Then the line fans still read as a name-check: “Tell Odogwu say we like to party.” Odogwu and Like to Party sit in Burna Boy’s catalogue. In 2023 Davido told Brut Afrique, “Me and Wizkid were one of the first to blow up, it feels good seeing the new cats coming up like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun… Asake.” Burna Boy later said being called new keeps him young. His sister Nissi posted a packed London Stadium: “new cats facing their hustle.”
Wizkid and Burna Boy
They once sold the opposite story. Ginger in 2020 and B. D’OR in 2021 looked like proof that two of the three could share a record without a funeral. Then the friendship stopped living on songs and started living on nights out.On April 6, 2026, that night out was Obi’s House in Lagos. DJ Tunez, Wizkid’s longtime DJ, known as Ogbafia, later said Burna Boy hit him from behind. Videos circulated of Tunez on the floor. Burna Boy answered with mockery, dancing in a towel to Money Constant and flipping the lyric to “Ogbafia dey for ground” before dropping to the floor.
Wizkid did not stay quiet. On X he wrote, “Pussy nigga Jump a dj with 10 man dancing in diddy towel. I’ve never seen a fool like this diddy babe in my life.” He followed with baby-oil jabs and later mocked Burna Boy for explaining the fight on camera, calling him a “vibration guy” whose “Idolo mouth no good.” Burna Boy’s version was different. On Instagram Live he said only he touched Tunez. “It was only me. I swear on my mama, if I lie, let Ogun carry my mama to anywhere that Wizkid’s mother is. I only gave him two slap. I told everybody not to touch him.” He added that Tunez and “his boss” took the matter to the internet. “Their power is on the internet; mine is in real life.”
Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck

They used to pass each other the mic. DOLLERZ, TESLA BOY and TECHNICIAN were the proof. Odumodublvck even posted, “THEY SAY I COPY BLAQBONEZ. WHY WOULDN’T I COPY HIM.” Then EZIOKWU talk turned into ranking talk. On February 7, 2025, Odumodublvck said if every other rapper packed their hits onto one tape, “it’s not beating EZIOKWU,” and that nobody should “hide behind the concept of consistency.” Blaqbonez quoted Consistency: “THIS IS CONSISTENCY, say it for those in the back, for the ignorant, it burnsss!” By June he was telling Odumodublvck, “ENTER STUDIO AND GET TF OUT MY MENTIONS.” Odumodublvck refused the booth. “This is not a rap beef. It’s me and you in this world.” In 2026 Blaqbonez said a woman sat in the middle of it, a friends-with-benefits situation that Odumodublvck treated as betrayal. According to Blaqbonez, the reply was, “Then we are enemies since you are not telling me.” Odumodublvck has called the rift personal and said only a direct apology would end it. Two rappers who once borrowed each other’s songs now refuse the same room.
