Content creator Kemi Ikuseedun, popularly known as Mummy Wa, has set social media on fire after claiming that many women in the entertainment industry fund their lifestyles through prostitution.
The remark dropped on the Unserious Podcast, where she sat with BBNaija star and streamer Phyna and skitmaker Zic Aloma. The talk turned to how some female entertainers live large beyond what content creation alone can pay. Mummy Wa, who is also a content creator, said she knows the numbers.
“A lot of women in the entertainment industry are prostitutes. What’s the source of income? Phyna, what gives you money?” she asked.
Phyna shot back in jest:
“I’m a thief.”
Mummy Wa did not ease off.
“I’m a content creator as well, I know how much we’re making. People think if you go viral, the money will just come like that. It’s a lie.”
She later asked whether the women in question make ₦5 million a month and whether they are spending their own money or someone else’s.
“Do you people make 5 million naira a month? Are you managing your money or someone else’s money?”
When Lolade Okusanya argued that men can give women money simply for existing, looking beautiful or staying relevant, Mummy Wa pushed back.
“What are you doing to make the man happy? Let them show us their investment.”
The clip spread quickly and viewers split between those who said she only voiced an open secret and those who demanded proof and accused her of smearing an entire group of women.
Mummy Wa rose to fame as the wife of Debo Adedayo’s Mr Macaroni character and also works as Kemz Mama. She is a chartered accountant who left that path for skits and acting. In a 2024 interview she said she refused to sleep with producers for roles and described sexual harassment as common behind the scenes.
Phyna, whose full name is Iheoma Nnadi, won Big Brother Naija Season 7 and has since built a streaming and content career.
