Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has clashed with police officers who tried to take him into custody at a Lagos club in the early hours of Saturday, August 29, 2026, after a performance. A video circulating online shows the rapper inside a car as officers surround him and press him to leave with them.
One officer asked why he would not follow them after an invitation was sent.
“Invitation was sent to you, it’s okay. What I want to ask you now, are you resisting an arrest? If you’re not resisting an arrest, tell me why you are not following the police?” the officer said.
Odumodublvck insisted he was not running from the police. He said officers had earlier gone to his estate, that his lawyers already attended to the invitation, and that the officers had no business taking him from the venue.
“You don’t have the jurisdiction; you came to my house. Don’t tell me to wait. You told my estate people to tell me to come, and I told my lawyers, and they attended to it. I am not resisting an arrest. My lawyers attended to it.”
He also said it was wrong to pull him out of the event.
“It is illegal to take me from here, my brother. You’re telling me not to tweet, not to speak.”
In a fuller clip reported by other outlets, the rapper claimed there was a motion ex parte stopping his arrest.
“I am not resisting an arrest. There is a motion ex parte that says you cannot arrest me. Why should I follow you? It is illegal.”
An officer in that clip said the force had not received the motion. The official reason for the attempted arrest has not been made public.
The confrontation lands in a season of public fights for the Picanto star. He has accused people around him of pushing smear campaigns and has been locked in a bitter feud with fellow rapper Blaqbonez. Odumodublvck has separately claimed police have tried to pick him up more than once because of petitions tied to that dispute.
He has also been in a public war of words with Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni after Blaqbonez appeared on the station to discuss their fallout. Odumodublvck called Oseni a terrible journalist and said he would rather tell his story elsewhere. The presenter later invited him on air to respond.
