Nigerian singer Rybeena has revealed that he and his wife, content creator and actress Kidbaby, have agreed not to have a child in Nigeria. The decision, he explained, comes from deep fears about the country’s current realities.

Speaking on the Wahala Podcast, Rybeena made his position clear.

“Having a child in this country scares me the most,” he said.

He went further to explain the couple’s shared stance.

“I don’t want to have a kid in Nigeria because of my experience and the current state of the country.”

According to the artiste, Nigeria remains far behind other nations.

“We’re far behind other countries. Even though we have some of the richest people in Africa, we’re still far behind economically,” he noted.

Rybeena described the idea of raising a child under these conditions as deeply troubling.

“Giving birth to a child here is messed up. The common mentality in Nigeria itself is troublesome.”

The singer, whose real name is Atanda Oluwaseun Adewale, rose to fame with tracks such as “ID.ME” and “Adunni.” He married Kidbaby, whose real name is Aliyat Olamide, in November 2024. The pair have often shared their relationship publicly, with Rybeena showing consistent support for his wife’s work in content creation and acting.

His comments have sparked mixed reactions online. Some Nigerians related to the couple’s concerns about the economy and social environment, while others questioned why such a personal family decision was shared so openly.

Rybeena’s candid admission has added to wider conversations among young couples about the challenges of parenthood in the face of economic pressures and everyday realities in Nigeria.
