Popular relationship and financial commentator GehGeh has responded with full sarcasm to viral videos allegedly showing him tying the knot in a secret ceremony in Niger State, leaving his “students” and fans in shock.
Footage that began circulating widely on social media around July 25 appeared to capture the influencer, known for running GehGeh University of Wisdom and Understanding, during what looked like a wedding reception or first dance with a woman identified in some posts as Mary. The clips quickly sparked intense reactions because of GehGeh’s long history of advising men to approach marriage and relationships with extreme caution.
Many followers accused him of hypocrisy. Some joked that his anti-impulsive marriage teachings had finally caught up with him, while others insisted the videos must be AI-generated or staged content.
In a mostly sarcastic video response, GehGeh addressed the backlash head-on.
“Nigerians, please find it in your hearts to forgive me. I know I’m a hypocrite and I don’t practice what I preach. To those of you that my advice has ruined your relationships, please go back and beg your partner to take you back. If your partner left you because of my advice, please accept them back. Don’t blame them, it’s my fault.”
He continued largely in the same tone:
“Let me tell you guys my side of the story. In this life, it’s the people closest to you that’ll try to bring you down. They have been trying to bring me down. I didn’t plan to marry. I just woke up and found out that they’ve used AI to edit me into a marriage just because Nigerian women want to bring me down. Governor, leave road construction and ban AI, please.”
GehGeh firmly rejected responsibility for any breakups linked to his teachings.
“No man leaves a valuable woman because of something another man said. I didn’t ask anybody to leave their partner. You left because she was of no use to you.”
The entire episode has now been revealed as promotion for his upcoming YouTube project titled Our In-Law, which he confirmed will drop soon on his channel. What began as fans mistaking carefully crafted promotional stills and clips for a real secret wedding has turned into classic GehGeh content that mixes comedy, self-aware trolling, and relationship commentary.
