Nollywood actor Jimmy Rolland has opened up about one of the most painful moments of his life, claiming his former wife deceived him by insisting she was a virgin throughout their four-year courtship, only for the truth to emerge on their wedding night.

Speaking on the African A-List podcast in an episode uploaded on Saturday, the actor described the discovery as a major disappointment that still haunts him. He admitted he ignored clear warning signs before the marriage.

“I am not a fool. I saw signs, but I was hypnotised by my mother-in-law,” Rolland said.

According to him, his mother and some friends conducted spiritual consultations and strongly advised him against marrying the woman, but he refused to listen.

“My mother and friends made spiritual consultations and warned me not to marry her, but I did not listen,” he revealed.

Rolland explained that his ex-wife repeatedly assured him of her virginity, which made him respect her boundaries completely during their long relationship.

“She told me she was a virgin, so I did not bother to make attempts to make love to her. We dated for four good years,” he said.

After their traditional introduction, she insisted they wait until the wedding night.

“After our introduction, she said, ‘Till the wedding night.’ I had to wait for some months, then on the wedding night, it ended up to be a lie.”

The actor confessed that the revelation left him devastated.

“I was disappointed, and I should have walked away, but I did not. It was not me.”

The marriage eventually broke down, and what hurt him most was losing access to their two children.

“What was disheartening is that we have two kids together, and she took them away.”

Rolland linked the emotional trauma of the separation to a serious health crisis.

“Because of the children she took away, I had a stroke. Because of too much thinking about those children, I had a stroke.”

He added that his mother continues to suffer from the absence of her grandchildren.

“My mother still cries because she wants to see those children.”

The actor did not specify when the marriage ended or provide details about any ongoing custody matters. His emotional account has sparked conversations about trust, red flags, and the lasting impact of marital betrayal.
