Why Me? Omotunde Apinke Breaks Down Battling Deadly Cervical Cancer

Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actress Omotunde Apinke Ogundimu has emotionally cried out to Nigerians for financial and medical support as she battles advanced cervical cancer, revealing the excruciating pain that has consumed her life since 2024.

In a heartfelt interview with colleague Biola Bayo, the actress, also known as Madam Motunde Ogundimu, poured out her heart while fighting back tears, questioning why such a devastating illness struck her despite her easy-going nature.

“The pain is too severe. I did these tests, and I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Why did it happen to me? I am very easy-going,” she lamented.

Omotunde disclosed that her children have sacrificed everything, pouring all their income into her treatment and neglecting their own needs.

“My children have been spending all their income on me, neglecting their own needs. For them to put their own lives on hold to take care of me. But I thank God for blessing me with them,” she said gratefully.

Despite reaching out to some people who offered help, the actress admitted the burden has become overwhelming. In the emotional clip, she pleaded desperately:

“I want to be fine. I want to be healed. The pain is severe. I don’t pray for my enemies to have cancer. Please, have mercy on me. Please, I have nobody.”

Her public cry comes amid a wave of similar health battles among Nollywood stars, including recent appeal for Cynthia Nkachukwu Anijekwu who also faced cancer diagnosis.
