“Help! I Have Cancer!” — Cynthia Anijekwu Begs Nigerians

Nollywood actress Cynthia Anijekwu has made a heart-wrenching public appeal for financial help as she battles cancer for the second time, with the disease now spreading to her bones and demanding expensive ongoing treatment.

In an emotional video shared on social media on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the actress revealed she was first diagnosed in 2023. She underwent surgery and chemotherapy, which initially helped manage the condition. However, the cancer returned aggressively.

“I had cancer in 2023. I did my surgery and took chemotherapy, but later it came back again. I’ve been in and out of the hospital. The doctor recently told me it has reached my bones, and the treatment is now much more expensive,” Anijekwu said tearfully.

She disclosed that her monthly treatment costs have skyrocketed to over N600,000, with doctors recommending radiation therapy and another surgery. With swollen hands and the cancer affecting both breasts, the actress pleaded desperately for assistance from Nigerians.

“I need to live. I need to survive. I’m asking Nigerians to please help me. Anyone that can help, please, I need help… Your one naira, your two naira can add up to something reasonable for me to get the proper treatment for this cancer. I’m begging you, please help me,” she cried out.

Before her health battle intensified, Cynthia Anijekwu featured in several English and Igbo-language Nollywood productions. Her current situation has drawn sympathy from colleagues and fans across the industry, many of whom are now rallying support for her treatment.

This latest health scare adds to the growing list of Nollywood practitioners facing serious medical challenges without adequate financial safety nets, sparking renewed conversations about welfare and support systems in Nigeria.
