Who Has Bewitched Us? — Spyro Slams Nigerians for Ignoring Kidnapped Girls Amid VDM–Jollof Fight

Nigerian singer Spyro has sparked massive reactions online after boldly telling men that spending money unnecessarily on women is a complete waste of their hard-earned cash.

The “Who is Your Guy” hitmaker made the controversial statement during a live performance, pausing his set to deliver a strong message on financial discipline and wealth creation.

“If you think you are here and you are spending money on women, you are wasting your time.”

He quickly clarified that he was not against responsibly taking care of women, but against reckless spending aimed at impressing them.

The singer urged men to focus on building sustainable wealth instead of chasing validation through luxury and relationships.

“When money finished from my hand, I didn’t see anybody. As a man, put your head into work. When you start to make money, save up, invest.”

Spyro shared a personal reflection, revealing that he prioritised investments over flashy spending when fame and money arrived. He also recounted how women who ignored him during his broke days suddenly showed interest after his success.

“When I blew, all these fresh girls began entering my DM. They would even promise to take me to Dubai and pay the bill. These are the girls that I used to crush on when I was broke.”

His comments have divided netizens, with some praising him for speaking hard truths about financial priorities while others accused him of generalising or questioned his own lifestyle choices.

This latest outburst adds to ongoing conversations about money, relationships, and gender dynamics in Nigeria, especially as economic pressures continue to bite harder on many young people.
