Comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has touched many hearts by releasing a powerful video message recorded by the late actor Alexx Ekubo shortly before his passing, delivering a message of hope and resilience.
The video surfaced days after Alexx Ekubo was laid to rest in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State, on June 18, 2026, following his death on May 11, 2026, from complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer at the age of 40.
AY Makun explained that he was not sharing the message to attract sympathy but for deep reflection, especially for those silently fighting their own battles.
“Yesterday, we laid @alexxekubo to rest in his hometown. Today, I want to share one of the messages he recorded before his passing… not for sympathy, but for reflection. AY emphasised the fragility of life and the importance of hope, stating:
