The high-profile fraud trial involving Jude Okoye, former manager of the iconic group P-Square, suffered a major setback on Wednesday as proceedings at the Federal High Court in Lagos were adjourned due to the shocking absence of key witness Peter Okoye.

Jude Okoye and his company, Northside Music Limited, are facing a seven-count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) bordering on alleged fraud involving N1.3 billion and $1 million. Both the defendant and his company had pleaded not guilty to all counts before Justice Alexander Owoeye.

Peter Okoye, one half of the famous twin duo and the nominal complainant in the case, was expected to continue his testimony and face cross-examination on Wednesday. However, he failed to appear in court, triggering fresh drama and conflicting explanations.

EFCC counsel G. C. Akaogu informed the court that Peter could not make it because his flight from Abuja to Lagos was rescheduled.

“The witness called and told me that his flight from Abuja was rescheduled. That was why he could not make it to court today.”

The defence team, led by Clement Onwuenwunor (SAN), strongly challenged this explanation, expressing frustration over the late notice after rearranging his own schedule.

“In fact, I was just told that the witness did not travel. He is in Lagos, and I do not know why the prosecutor said his flight was rescheduled.”

The conflicting claims about Peter Okoye’s whereabouts left many observers stunned and raised new questions about the ongoing bitter feud between the Okoye brothers. Justice Owoeye adjourned the matter to September 21, 2026, for continuation of the trial.

The case stems from long-standing disputes within the P-Square family, which led to the group’s eventual split. Jude Okoye’s trial has been closely watched due to the high financial stakes and the public nature of the sibling rivalry.

This latest development adds more tension to the already strained relationship between Jude and his twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye, as the legal battle continues to drag on.
