Nollywood actress and filmmaker Tierny Olalere has opened up boldly about intimacy on set, her relationship standards, and why she no man has ever asked what she brings to the table..
In a candid interview on the Conversations With Kenni podcast hosted by Kehinde Ajose, the talented actress addressed several personal and professional boundaries with refreshing honesty.
Tierny confirmed she has no problem kissing in movies when the script demands it. She recalled her most memorable on-screen kiss in the movie Iji Ife, directed by Seun The Storyteller and produced by Yetunde Banabas.
“I kiss in movies… The film where I kissed very well was Iji Ife… I played the sub lead and I kissed Lanre Adediwura. That was the deepest and longest kiss I’ve had on set. If the scripts warrant it, I’m open to more kissing scenes.”
However, she stressed the importance of hygiene, revealing an unpleasant experience with a popular actor.
“The partner I’m working with also has to be hygienically sound. I’ve worked with a very popular actor who had bad breath on the set, during a kissing scene. Proper hygiene is a big deal for me during kissing scenes.”
When asked if she gets offended when men ask what she brings to the table, Tierny responded confidently, stating no man has ever asked her that question.
“Personally, no man has ever asked me what I bring to the table. I have value. I have something to give… The man would see no reason to ask me that question because I have so much to offer. I’m not just the table, I’m the whole furniture. I’m the tree they use to make them.”
Tierny described the question of dating a financially challenged man as “dicey.” While she believes a supportive partner matters more than current financial status, she admitted practical realities matter.
“No offense to any broke man, but if you have prospect, you’ll definitely do well. But if it takes too long, and it’s looking like it’s my little income we’ll have to share, it will affect us… Being in a relationship with someone who understands your dream and understands the financial requirements is important.”
Tierny’s openness highlights the balancing act many successful female entertainers face in maintaining strong personal boundaries while navigating public scrutiny in both their careers and love lives.
