Socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has openly explained why he abandoned Peter Obi and the Labour Party to support President Bola Tinubu, citing his desire to avoid repeated political losses.
In a viral livestream conversation with TikToker Peller, Cubana Chief Priest admitted that his previous support for Peter Obi during the last election still affects how he is viewed within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Tinubu doesn’t really trust me as an Igbo man that I am and because I worked for Peter Obi at the last election but I chose Tinubu now because I don’t want to lose again.”
He expressed strong confidence in Tinubu’s position and urged young people to align with the president.
“Let Tinubu just do his 8 years, nobody can move him from there. Peller, Make sure you vote Tinubu because it was Tinubu’s tenure you got your fame.”
The businessman also addressed the backlash he received after his poor performance in the recent APC primary for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State. He dismissed critics and expressed determination to continue in politics.
“I’ll never give up even if I lose again. All these people trolling me on IG and twitter, I checked their pages and none of them have GWagon. How will I be sad at what poor men are saying?”
Cubana Chief Priest revealed that the APC has been supportive despite his loss.
“APC is pampering me, and the party is working in my favour. One of my chairmen bought me a brand new car for losing the election, and it will be delivered to me tomorrow.”
He also hinted at higher ambitions, saying he has a Plan B that could see him contest for governor.
His comments come after he had earlier clarified that he withdrew from the primary due to party zoning arrangements.
