Popular Nollywood actor Jide Awobona has expressed deep regret after his two expensive phones — an iPhone and a Samsung — were allegedly stolen at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
In his post, the actor revealed he ignored his initial instinct to leave early and stayed for the after-party on the advice of others, only to fall victim to theft.
“AMVCA 2026. You reminded me never to ignore my instinct. If I had obeyed my instinct and ignored those advising I should wait for the after party, maybe my iPhone and Samsung wouldn’t have been picked.”
Jide Awobona however assured fans and colleagues that he is back online after the unfortunate incident.
“Hello, if you have been trying to reach me since Sunday, I am back now.”
He also pleaded with people who had already booked him for gigs to resend their details.
“Please, if you booked me for any gig, kindly send a reminder with the dates and all. My schedule is on the stolen phones.”
Despite the setback, the actor maintained a positive spirit.
“Anyways, I am here and still grateful for God.”
