Veteran actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has ignited fresh political controversy with scathing remarks against former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, claiming chaos naturally follows the influential politician.

In a recent appearance on the Naija Symfoni podcast, Okonkwo, who was once a strong supporter of Obi, accused him of bringing “toxicity” into the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“There was only one person that was bringing toxicity in ADC and that person is Peter Obi. He was the one that went around asking others to step down for him.”

He further claimed:

“By nature, chaos follows him. Immediately he came into the party was what brought the toxic ‘Obi or nothing’ what was brought the toxicity into ADC.”

Okonkwo criticised Obi’s political style, suggesting he avoids genuine democratic processes.

“The reason he left ADC is cause he is a man who is afraid of free, fair, primary election. Throughout his political career he has never contested for any political position.”

He added that Obi “built his political career on sand and not on democracy” and possesses an “entitlement democracy mentality.”

The strong comments from Kenneth Okonkwo, who played a visible role in Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, have sparked intense reactions online. Supporters of Obi have dismissed the claims as bitterness, while others see it as an insider’s revelation about the former governor’s political approach.

This latest attack adds to the growing list of former allies distancing themselves from Peter Obi ahead of future political contests, particularly as 2027 approaches.
