Nollywood star Kunle Afod has poured out raw heartbreak after visiting veteran Yoruba actress Iru Eshin, famously known as Mama Iru Eshin, at her home in Ede, Osun State. The actor revealed he was devastated to find the once-celebrated star living in ruins after heavy rain and wind completely destroyed her house, leaving her with almost nothing despite years of giving so much to the industry and her fans.
In an emotional video shared from the visit, Kunle could not hide his pain.
“After a long time, I decided to visit Mama Iru Eshin in Ede, Osun State… but what I met was heartbreaking. Her house has been destroyed by heavy rain. A woman who has given so much to people is now left with almost nothing. What a painful sight… what a pity.”
The veteran actress starred in the classic emotional Yoruba film Iru Esin (Horse Tail), a movie that left generations in tears and cemented her place in the hearts of fans. Kunle used the moment to issue a powerful call for urgent help.
“This is more than just a visit — it’s a reminder that we need to check on our own, support one another, and not wait until it’s too late. If you can help in any way, please do. Little support can bring back hope.”
Kunle has repeatedly said helping veterans brings him joy because “we would all reach that position someday,” and the legacy he builds for younger actors matters most. His latest emotional appeal for Mama Iru Eshin has already touched thousands online, with many promising cash, building materials, or other assistance to restore the veteran’s dignity.
As the video circulates widely, fans are rallying behind Kunle’s message of gratitude and urgency. The veteran’s plight serves as a stark reminder of how quickly fortunes can change in the entertainment industry, even for those who once lit up screens and moved audiences.
