Nigerian actor Ali Nuhu has shared the simple yet powerful practice that has kept his marriage free of scandals despite years of playing romantic and intimate roles on screen. The veteran star, known for his work in both Hausa and English-language films, opened up during a recent appearance on With Chude, explaining that mutual respect and open communication with his wife form the foundation of their relationship.

Ali Nuhu addressed the frequent questions his wife receives about being married to a celebrity admired by many women.

“Most people keep asking my wife, ‘You’re married to a celebrity, an actor. A lot of ladies admire him, they love him, but we’ve not had scandals.’ Yes, that’s because I respect her, and I respect her feelings. She does the same for me.”

The actor went further, revealing that he deliberately involves his wife when scripts call for romantic or intimate scenes. He makes sure she reviews the material even when he is busy on set.

“You know some of those scripts I did in Asaba and Lagos that required intimacy with my co-stars. I intentionally give her the script and say, ‘Please help me read this because I’m very busy on set.’ Even though I’ve already read it, she goes through it and points out certain parts, asking, ‘Are you comfortable with this? Can you do that?’ And I tell her, ‘Yes, I’m comfortable if you’re okay with it.”

By giving his wife this level of input, Ali Nuhu ensures that both partners are aligned before any potentially sensitive scenes are filmed. The practice, he believes, demonstrates the deep trust and consideration that have sustained their union over the years.

The revelation has drawn admiration from fans, many of whom praised the actor for prioritising his wife’s feelings in an industry where such transparency is rare. Others highlighted the maturity involved, noting that involving a spouse in creative decisions like this can prevent misunderstandings and build stronger partnerships.

For Ali Nuhu, the approach is straightforward: when you truly value your partner, you make space for their voice even in the most personal aspects of your work.
