Nigerian rapper Okwudili Onyeka Okoli, popularly known as 6uff, left many fans stunned after opening up about his family’s dramatic shift from immense wealth to financial hardship following the death of his father. The rising artist, known for his growing presence in the music industry, shared the deeply personal account during a recent appearance on the Off the Record podcast. What started as a story of success in the oil industry quickly turned into a tale of loss and resilience that has since gone viral on social media.

According to 6uff, his late father built a formidable empire as one of the biggest suppliers of STP in Nigeria. The business network reportedly reached a value of ₦3 billion at its peak.

“My dad was a wealthy oil mogul and one of the biggest suppliers of STP in Nigeria, with a network worth ₦3 billion.”

Everything changed after his father passed away. 6uff explained that his mother found herself unable to manage the complex operations alone.

“When he died, my mom and siblings couldn’t handle the business, it was too much for her and gradually it was slipping away and we lost everything and had to sell all the properties.”

The family’s downfall hit hard. At one stage, even basic needs became a daily struggle. 6uff recalled the low point vividly:

“There was a point that we weren’t eating up to 2 square meals in a day. I was even taking credits at some point to the extent that there was a time I couldn’t go out because I had taken credits everywhere.”

He noted that his current image often makes the story difficult for outsiders to accept.

“People won’t believe when I say that because they just see me and feel everything has been smooth.”

The revelation, which first gained traction through a video clip from the podcast, has sparked widespread reactions online. Many listeners expressed surprise at the contrast between 6uff’s present-day perceived success and the hardships he and his family endured after losing their father and fortune.

This candid disclosure offers a rare glimpse behind the glamour often associated with entertainment personalities. It underscores how quickly circumstances change and highlights the quiet battles some artists have fought on their way up. His story serves as a reminder that not every journey to the spotlight begins from a place of ease.
