Popular Nigerian comedian Igosave has sparked widespread debate after expressing deep frustration with the country’s democratic system. In his Instagram story, Igosave declared that Nigeria’s democracy feels truncated and accused successive governments of perpetuating oppression and impunity.
Igosave did not hold back in his criticism and started off by expressing his growing displeasure with the country’s political system.
“I’m beginning to hate democracy! Nigeria’s democracy is looking truncated.. A legacy of protected oppressors; Impunity on the rise…”
He went further by suggesting that ordinary citizens appeared happier during the military era, particularly when comparing basic infrastructure.
“Looks like we were last happy during the military rule. Ordinary steady power supply not steady till this day. Some states still looking like a throw back!”
The post reflects growing public disillusionment with governance in Nigeria, where issues such as unreliable electricity supply, poor infrastructure in several states, and perceived lack of accountability continue to fuel discontent. Igosave’s words have resonated with many Nigerians who share similar frustrations about the gap between democratic promises and everyday realities.
Igosave’s latest outburst has triggered mixed reactions online, with some users agreeing that the current democratic dispensation has failed to deliver meaningful development, while others earnestly cautioned against romanticising the military era.
