Late Nigerian singer Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, will be laid to rest today, Friday, January 23, 2026, in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The burial arrangements were confirmed in an official statement released by his family on Thursday, announcing the passing of the young artist whose music journey began at an early age.
In the announcement titled “Official Family Announcement,” the family expressed deep sorrow over the loss.
“With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, the family of Adeshina announces the passing of their beloved son, brother, and father, Mr. Afeez Adeshina Ayinde, popularly known as Destiny Boy.”
The statement detailed his background and family life, highlighting that he was born on June 24, 2003, into the Adeshina family of Odo Rori Compound, Ayetoro Yewa, Ogun State.
He was the son of Mr. Adeshina Kamorudeen and Mrs. Saadat Adeshina.
The family also revealed that Destiny Boy was married and had recently welcomed a child.
“He later got married to Oluwatoyin Adeshina, and their union was blessed with a son, Adeshina Usman Obatide, born on November 12, 2024.”
Describing his personality and career, the family said:
“Destiny Boy was widely known as a kind-hearted, humble, and hardworking young man. He was passionate about music and featured in several songs and music videos across Nigeria and beyond, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who encountered his work and spirit.”
The singer reportedly passed away on January 17, 2026, at the age of 22.
The family confirmed that the burial will take place later today.
“He will be laid to rest on Friday, January 23, 2026, by 2:00 PM, at his father’s residence in Odo Rori Compound, Ayetoro Yewa, Ogun. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”

Destiny Boy rose to fame as a teenager and became known for his energetic presence and contributions to the local music scene. He appeared in several songs and music videos that earned attention across Nigeria, especially among younger audiences.
