Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy reportedly faced an unexpected airport delay in Morocco after customs officials raised concerns over his jewellery.
The incident was revealed by CAF President Patrice Motsepe, who disclosed that the Afrobeats star was briefly held at a Moroccan airport while en route to headline the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Fan Zone concert in Rabat.
Speaking during a recent press conference, Motsepe explained that the issue centered on Burna Boyβs luxury accessories.
βRecently I was called that I need to intervene because Burna Boy was stopped at the airport after customs officers noticed his heavy and beautiful gold jewellery. I intervened and it was resolved,β Motsepe said.
According to the CAF president, the situation was settled peacefully after his intervention, allowing the singer to proceed with his engagement.
Despite the airport hiccup, Burna Boy went on to deliver a high-energy performance at the AFCON Fan Zone concert in Rabat on January 16, thrilling football fans and music lovers.
The concert also featured performances from Ghanaian star Stonebwoy, alongside Moroccan artistes Stormy and Jaylann, adding to the celebratory atmosphere around the tournament.
The revelation has since sparked reactions online, with fans joking about Burna Boyβs signature luxury style and praising CAF for ensuring the show went on without disruption.
