Nigerian singer Okafor Uchenna Victor, popularly known as Mr Real, has taken fresh shots at music veteran D’Banj, accusing him of failing to fulfil financial and professional obligations from their past working relationship.
Speaking during a recent interview on TheBeat 99.9 FM, the Legbegbe crooner expressed frustration over what he described as years of being ignored by the Koko Master.
In his words:
“Every year by year I go dey call am out. Baba, I go dey run am. Even if I die and e never settle me, I no go rest in peace.”
Mr Real caimed he worked with D’Banj for more than two years but received only $500 as compensation, calling it an unfair return for his contributions. According to him, his loyalty even extended beyond music.
He recounted sending ₦500,000 as support when D’Banj was reportedly detained by police years ago.
“When he was in custody, I sent ₦500,000 in support. And still, up till today, nothing. Every chance I get, I’ll be calling D’Banj out until he settles me.”
The interview clip has since gone viral, prompting heated debates across social media about industry relationships, unpaid collaborations, and loyalty within the Nigerian music scene.
D’Banj, born Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, is one of Africa’s most celebrated entertainers, known for global hits including Oliver Twist. The award-winning singer and music executive has been a dominant force in the industry since the early 2000s and remains an influential figure in Afrobeats culture.
As of this report, D’Banj has not responded publicly to Mr Real’s claims.
