Where Did Your USA People See Me as a Prostitute? — BBNaija’s Queen Fires Back at Critics Amid Marriage Crash

Former Big Brother Naija star Queen Mercy Atang has finally broken her silence amid growing rumours and harsh online criticism following reports that her one-year marriage to David has crashed.

In a lengthy Instagram post on Monday, the reality star said she has endured months of name-calling, false narratives, and hurtful assumptions about her personal life. According to her, she reached a point where silence felt like enabling the lies.

Queen revealed that some people had even labelled her a “prostitute” and an “unfit wife,” accusations she described as both shocking and baseless.

She said she was stunned to hear claims that “people in the U.S.” allegedly knew her for certain degrading things. The mother of one clarified that she has barely lived in America and only visited once, between 2017 and 2018, long before she became famous.

Recalling that brief trip, she wrote:

“The last time I was in the United States was in 2017/2018, back when I was still a pageant girl. I stayed at my aunty’s house in Houston for a few weeks before going to Florida for my pageant. I wasn’t even famous then.” “So where exactly did your ‘USA people’ see me and decide I was a prostitute?????”

The reality star said she knows her family would prefer that she stays away from public drama but insisted that setting the record straight was important.

“I know my family will be upset that I’m responding. I’m sorry family.”

Queen also addressed rumours that she posted her husband online to spite her child’s father. She dismissed the claim completely, saying she has never posted anything about her baby daddy on social media.

“I heard someone saying I was posting to pepper my baby daddy. Did you ever see me post my baby daddy??? When I posted my marriage, I was excited, like every other bride.”

She added that even if her husband had preferred privacy, she would still have shared her wedding photos without ever revealing her child’s father.

The BBNaija alum went on to respond to accusations that she is “not ready for marriage” or “still wants to be in the streets,” including criticisms of the kind of movies she acts in.

“I can count how many movies I’ve featured in. Mommy Toyin’s movie, my boss Baba Rex’s movie and a few others. And I can tell you all, I’ve never acted a deep kissing role or an over romantic scene. If you have a movie where I over-kissed, please bring it.”

Queen also defended her TikTok videos, saying dancing is something that brings her joy.

“Some said I twerk on TikTok… my dear, dancing makes me happy. So twerking makes me a bad person???? Biko let me head to TikTok and drop another then.”

With evident frustration, she declared that she is done trying to meet people’s expectations.

“Say whatever you want. Because in 2026, I am blocking all the noise in advance. Being a ‘good girl’ didn’t pay. F*ck LOVE.” “I’m Queen. I’m Gemini. I talk my truth without the fear of no one. I don’t have time to fake it or pretend.”
