Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire has come under intense criticism following the release of a CCTV footage capturing her altercation with fellow actor Taye Arimoro.
In the viral video shared by Arimoro on social media, he accused Peggy and her crew of physically assaulting him on a movie set. According to his account, the actress allegedly instructed her driver to block his vehicle to stop him from leaving. He also claimed that his car tyres were deflated, leaving him stranded and injured.
Arimoro, who appeared with visible wounds on his gums and lips, further alleged that the assault was premeditated and carried out under Peggy’s supervision.
Responding to the allegations, Peggy Ovire denied the claims, alleging instead that Taye Arimoro assaulted two members of her crew during the shoot. She stated that she only stepped in to de-escalate the situation, but events quickly spiraled out of control.
“When I came out, the situation had already gotten heated. Taye drove off while I was still standing beside the car. My driver was later found bleeding from the ear after being hit multiple times”, she claimed.
However, the recently leaked CCTV footage tells a different story. In the clip, Peggy was seen yanking off her wig, handing her phone to someone nearby, and appearing ready to confront Taye Arimoro.
The footage immediately went viral, sparking mixed reactions online.
One user, @Rennie, wrote, “She yanked her wig off and gave someone her phone because she was so ready to fight. Thank goodness for that man’s calmness.” Another viewer, @Roselynpearl_, added, “No, they triggered him so bad. That Peggy is a bad woman. See her pushing him. Taye, you’re a good man.” While @mercyyfrancis said, “That’s why Frederick left her, a very anyhow woman.”
As of press time, Peggy Ovire has not issued any further statement regarding the viral footage, while Taye Arimoro insists he was the victim in the encounter.
