Nollywood actress Omobolarinde Akinyanju, popularly known as Ashabi, has broken her silence amid renewed drama with her baby daddy, controversial singer Portable.
The Yoruba movie star took to her Instagram page to share a powerful message of determination and self-worth, stressing that she “can’t afford to fail” because the lifestyle she desires is expensive.
In her words:
“I can’t afford to fail because the lifestyle I want is expensive. May we not labour in vain.”
Her post comes just hours after Portable accused her of trying to ruin his marriage again. In a leaked conversation shared by the singer himself, Portable described Ashabi as “the mistake of his life”, claiming she had driven away one of his exes, Queen Dami.
But Ashabi, unfazed by the public outburst, urged her followers to ignore the noise. She admitted that this was not the first time Portable had called her out, warning the public not to meddle in her private life.
“This relationship wants to make me look like a failure, but I refuse. Nobody should advise me”, she said in a previous statement.
In a separate TikTok live, Portable once again called out the actress, alleging that she had been receiving attention from wealthy men and planning a trip to South Africa. He claimed he tried to stop the trip by getting her pregnant, but failed.
Despite the chaos, Ashabi has remained resolute in her pursuit of success. Earlier this year, she revealed her New Year resolution was to say “no” more often and only take on projects that make her proud and financially fulfilled.
“Bills aren’t a joke. If I keep working for free, how will I pay my bills?” she had said.
Her latest post, however, signals a deeper message that she is focused on building a future that matches her ambition, regardless of the drama surrounding her relationship.
