Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage has cleared the air on long-standing claims that she sabotages other female artists in the Nigerian music industry.
The singer, who has often been at the center of speculation about industry rivalry, firmly denied ever blocking opportunities for her female colleagues.
Speaking during a recent episode of the OffAir Show, hosted by Gbemi and Toolz, Tiwa challenged those spreading the accusations to name their sources and present evidence instead of hiding behind vague claims.
“If you’ve heard from anybody that I tried to block your bag, mention names,” Tiwa said. “Maybe the promoters are lying and using me. Maybe they don’t want to book three or four girls, so they claim I am the one blocking others.”
Her statement comes years after Kenyan singer Victoria Kimani accused her of allegedly influencing show organizers to cancel her performances; a claim that reignited online debate about female competition in Afrobeats.
However, Tiwa Savage’s recent response appears to put the record straight.
She hinted that show promoters might be the real culprits, possibly pitting women against each other for commercial reasons.
Fans have since taken to social media to praise Tiwa for addressing the issue head-on, with many commending her maturity and courage in confronting what they describe as “industry politics.”
Known for her hit songs like Somebody’s Son, Koroba, and Stamina, Tiwa Savage continues to stand as a trailblazer for women in the Afrobeats scene, proving that female artists can thrive without rivalry or resentment.
