Award-winning actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele is not one to shy away from addressing critics. The Nollywood star recently responded to a Snapchat user who mocked her for carrying food in a yellow nylon bag, claiming it made her “not posh.”
The fan, identified as Harlabeeade, left the comment: “Aunty Funke you’re not posh at all. Why yellow and black nylon.”
Funke, unimpressed by the remark, wasted no time clapping back. In a video posted on her page, she said with sarcasm:
“Aunty Funke you’re not posh because say I put food inside yellow nylon. Elenu shipoti. I’m not posh… Boya to ba ra nylon fun mi.”
The actress went further to reveal she had blocked the critic, boldly displaying the fan’s name on the video. “Now you’ve seen your name, go and blow”, she added, suggesting the individual might have been seeking clout.
Fans were quick to rally behind Funke. One fan, @preshycandy, fumed: “Na wa ooo… imagine the audacity to our very own legend!! Some people sha!!! Damnnnn.”
Another, @sbm_jerseys_ng, wrote: “Many people no dey normal for this country seh😂.” And @fun_blog20 tried to lighten the mood, saying: “Nah joke aunty Funke e ma bi nu.”
Whether joking or serious, Funke Akindele’s no-nonsense response once again shows she won’t let online trolls define her.
